The Condado Plaza Hotel Royal Ballroom /2023

Our office (Design+Development) was tasked with giving a revamp to the ballroom at the Condado Plaza Hotel. A place that, in its current state, was far from the upscale hotspot it was decades ago. Once the epitome of old-school Caribbean glamour, we aimed to revive that essence while remaining palatable for the modern age and neutral enough to serve as a blank canvas for a variety of events. The project consists of an elegant yet simple wooden shell-like stage, a dark coat over the coffered center ceiling to highlight the existing chandelier, an open layout with a light-colored carpet, and a darker, cozy lounge with a throwback solid natural green stone bar. This, along with other design choices, such as accent colors, tropical wallpaper, and local art (such as a Materia Madura coffee residue made panels art piece), helped restore its tropical charm and elegance while remaining apt for a bevy of uses.
